It’s like the door no longer fits properly in the frame. This happened to my previous house as well, cabinet door, front door, etc.

Lowes and Home Depot want around $260-$275 per door to replace all 3 exterior doors on my house. I can’t see spending $780 just to replace 3 doors without even considering what the doors will cost. I know the new doors come with the frames attached and all. How hard is this to do? Is it something a DIY-er could do well?
I am having a hard time finding companies that install these doors. What should I look for in the yellow pages? . . . → Read More: How hard is it to replace an exterior door on my house?

I am trying to wire a door buzzer that goes off when someone enters the warehouse. The four items I have to wire are as follows: I have a normally closed circuit on the door. This comes in two parts (one part is on the wall and one on the door). When the door is opened, the circuit will break and the door buzzer should go off if wired correctly. The other items are a on/off toggle switch, a 12v power supply and a buzzer (with the black (+) and red (-) leads. If anyone can help me here, it would be much appreciated. Thank you . . . → Read More: How do I go about wiring a door buzzer?

At the top, there is a track with rails on each side, and rollers attached to the top of the door. The door is wider than the opening, so removing the door involves removal of the wood facing. Don’t want to do that. Nobody would sell a door that can’t be adjusted to accomodate various flooring or easily removed and sawed off, but I see no way to do either. The only things I can reach are two white, plastic knobs that just barely peer over the top of the door at the site of the rollers. I took a screwdriver and pushed, pulled, etc. figuring it was a release that might let me move the door up and down. But no luck. What I am saying is, in the US, if your house’s front door looks like a wood door, is it possible there is an inner layer of metal between two layers of wood, so it looks good and very secure as well. In those hollywood movies, whenever a door appears on screen, it looks like a wood door, how can a wood door protect anything. I am simply curious. Also, how about the key? If you lose your key, who is responsible for unlocking the door for you? The fire department, or a privately owned business who repair locks and also can unlock doors and charge you a fee? If so, how the government regulate this type of businesses, given the special nature of their services. Do they provide 24-hour service? How can you convince those guys you are the owner or tenant of the house, so you can authorize them to unlock the house . . . → Read More: Is the front door of your house a sandwich?

The closer unit is in the top frame and the arm is mounted to the top of the door. The closer has a square peg that the arm is clamped to. The door has to be open to access the arm hardware, but I know that if I loosen the hardware, the peg will rotate to the closed position. How do I prevent this from happening? Right now the door will not close all the way which is an indication that the arm is worn out or the peg . . . → Read More: How do I change the door closer arm in a commercial door?
